Since the new year, I’ve been taking the boys to story time at the library. It has been like no story time I’ve ever experinced in the past.  It’s one hour, once a week and the ongoing theme is called “in the garden”.

The teacher is amazing and week by week she has been building a garden with the kids.  so fun!

It has been quite facinating for both the boys and myself, so we decided to make a garden of our own at home.

We started our seeds about 6 weeks ago. We planted sweet peppers, tomatoes, basil, cilantro, and corn.

Then we waited and obsessed over them, checking them many times through out the day ’til finally, something appeared!

Here they are at about 4 weeks.

We also planted some flowers.

I’ve been reading Sunset magazine lately and I LOVE it! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you should pick up a copy and I promise you will be be inspired. This month is focussed on yards and gardens.  Check out some of their  gardening tips and ideas here

Next up….our raised garden bed.

Today marks the official first day of Spring!  To mark it,  I thought it would be great to offer a new dress for the new season.

With Easter around the corner,  I knew I could not get away with not making a new dress for Isabella, so I chose this white cotton fabric with embroidery through out.  I love the simplicity of this dress with the added texture of the embroidered flowers.

There is something so sweet about a little girl in a white dress…

I’ve been wanting to offer another upcycled shirt dress for a while now.

This past weekend I found some time…

From a man’s button down shirt, to a simple modern dress for your little girl.  I kept the buttons running down the front, and pulled in the waist for some shape.  Simply pull it over her head for easy dressing.

Isabella was especially thrilled when I added this sweet Russian doll applique, her favorite detail!

This upcycled Russion doll dress is now available in our shop!

There are so many amazing artists right here in Phoenix. I love the idea of supporting our locals, so from time to time I plan to highlight some of my finds.

I have been a big fan of Wild Fern Photography for some time now, so when I learned that I won a family photoshoot, I was thrilled. We have never had a profession family photo taken, so it was time!

As described by my husband, I was a hen with flying feathers trying to get everyone together, but we did it  and it was worth it.

A photo shoot such as this only costs 100.00, and for a sibling shoot,  just 25.00.  This includes a bundle of prints as well as a download of the photos.  The photographer , Alexandra, is so gifted, and made this session fun for all of us.
